These websites have been visited by over 100,000 users from Australia and are linked to previous cases of sexual exploitation of students. The online safety commissioner, Julie Inman Grant, emphasized that the sites did not have protective measures to prevent their use for illegal purposes. The company Itai Tech, which managed these sites, was fined by Ofcom in the UK for failing to verify the ages of users.

The Australian government is working on legislation against AI-generated pornographic content and will impose restrictions for users under 16 on social platforms starting December 10.
