Former Prime Minister of Norway and former Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland was urgently hospitalized, the incident being reported as a suicide attempt.
This occurred shortly after Norwegian authorities opened a corruption investigation into his properties, triggered by documents from the U.S. Department of Justice. These suggest that Jagland and his family were guests of Jeffrey Epstein, having vacations in his residences between 2011 and 2018.
The investigation, led by Økokrim, targets possible gifts and benefits received by Jagland in connection with his official duties, including his role as chairman of the Nobel Committee. Norwegian authorities have confirmed that Jagland is suspected of aggravated corruption, and the investigation focuses on the integrity of his decisions in leadership positions.
