The Commission for Plastic Arts, established by Congress in 1910, was reformed by the Trump administration, which will appoint a new team of members more aligned with its policies. Former President Biden had previously appointed these members, and their term was set to end in 2028. The reorganization takes place in the context of Trump's ambitious construction plans, including the demolition of the east wing of the White House to make way for a $300 million ballroom.

Trump also proposed building a new triumphal arch next to the Lincoln Memorial, a project that would require a complex approval process. His approach to renovations differs significantly from that of his predecessors, who consulted various bodies before moving forward with projects.
