The Vietnamese government has requested companies to encourage remote work to reduce fuel consumption, in response to the significant increase in fuel prices caused by global energy disruptions due to the war in the Middle East.

The Ministry of Commerce of Vietnam has recommended firms to allow employees to work from home, thus reducing the need for commuting. Fuel prices have drastically increased, by 32% for gasoline, 56% for diesel, and 80% for kerosene. The ministry has also urged the population to avoid excessive stockpiling and fuel speculation.

As a protective measure, the government has removed import taxes on fuels until the end of April, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Minh has discussed with leaders from Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates to secure new oil supplies.
