The Vatican, through the voice of Cardinal Pietro Parolin, condemned the idea of "preventive war," emphasizing that its acceptance could provoke a global conflict. Parolin stated that the erosion of international law is alarming and that justice should not be replaced by force. He highlighted the suffering of the peoples in the Middle East, affected by violence and destruction. The cardinal emphasized the importance of multilateral diplomacy as a solution for conflicts, instead of armed attacks. Additionally, Pope Leo XIV criticized the tendency to seek peace through the force of arms. In this context, the USA and Israel justify attacks on Iran for security reasons, citing threats related to the Iranian nuclear program.
