The Trump administration has announced that the U.S. will impose visa-related sanctions against China if Beijing does not accept more deportees. This threat comes ahead of President Trump's visit to Beijing, scheduled for May 14-15, where the issue of deportations will be discussed.

China has slowed its efforts to repatriate its citizens illegally in the U.S., refusing to fully cooperate in this regard. Although Beijing had previously accepted the repatriation of approximately 3,000 citizens, cooperation has decreased in the last six months.

U.S. officials emphasize that over 100,000 Chinese citizens are without documents in the U.S., and 30,000 have final deportation orders. The U.S. could increase travel restrictions and deny more visas if China does not change its position. This situation reflects the tensions between the two countries, in the context of the tough immigration policies promoted by Trump.
