Scott Bessent, the American Secretary of the Treasury, stated that the sanctions imposed on Iran will be reviewed to become more effective.
During a conference on combating the financing of terrorism, he urged allies in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to collaborate more closely with the United States, taking measures against Iranian financiers and shutting down phantom companies.
In addition to military actions, the United States has launched the 'Economic Fury' program, which aims to block Tehran's financing, including through the seizure of cryptocurrency assets worth nearly 500 million dollars. Bessent emphasized the need to modernize the sanctions system, stating that they should change behavior, not punish populations. He cited examples from Syria and Venezuela, where sanctions were relaxed following significant changes.
