The United States has decided to withdraw all 1,000 soldiers from Syria in the next two months, according to reports from American media, including the Wall Street Journal and CBS. This decision comes after the Syrian government has expanded its control over territory, and the Syrian Democratic Forces, led by the Kurds, announced that they will integrate into the state.
The American withdrawal follows the recent departure of U.S. forces from strategic bases in Syria, such as Al-Tanf and Al-Shadadi, used in the fight against the Islamic State.
Additionally, Washington has begun to collaborate with the new Syrian authorities and has transferred thousands of ISIS fighters from prisons in Iraq, in the context of political changes in the region.
