The resolution was rejected by a vote of 52 to 47, demonstrating the continued support of Republicans for the president's military policy. Republican Senator Rand Paul was the only member of his party to vote for the measure, while John Fetterman was the only Democrat to vote against it.

This was the fourth failed attempt by Democrats to gain approval for such a measure, and they have promised to continue forcing votes weekly. Although the Constitution states that only Congress can declare war, presidents have argued that they can act in cases of immediate threat.
