The British Defence Minister, John Healey, announced that the British Government will allow the Armed Forces to shoot down drones that fly over military bases, as part of new security measures. This decision comes in the wake of recent incidents in Poland, Denmark, and Germany, where drones, suspected to be Russian, caused significant disruptions, including the paralysis of Munich airport. Healey emphasized that these measures are necessary to protect the British population, considering the intensification of Russian aggression and the increased risks to Europe's security.

Until now, the British military protocol only allowed for the diversion or jamming of drones, and shooting them down was permitted only in exceptional circumstances. The new regulations will significantly expand the military's response capability, allowing them to intervene directly against drones that may pose a threat. Previously, drones of unknown origin were reported near some British air bases, and a joint investigation with American forces is currently underway. At the European level, projects have been initiated to protect critical infrastructures against drones.
