The United Kingdom is preparing the country for war: a complex national plan for the army, hospitals, and industry

The United Kingdom is updating its complex plan aimed at preparing society for a possible war, involving not only the military but also the police, the healthcare system, and the industrial sector.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton stated to Sky News that the new version of the document previously known as the "Government War Book" entails a major shift in the state's reaction, drawing inspiration from Cold War mechanisms but adapted to a modern context. During the London Defence Conference, Knighton also addressed measures against Russia's "phantom fleet," mentioning that British threats to seize sanctioned oil tankers have begun to take effect. Although some ships remain at large, the official assured that the United Kingdom is prepared for direct interventions.

A major challenge remains the restoration of the combat capability of the armed forces, after a period of underfunding. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the intention to increase the defense budget to 3.5% of GDP by 2035, but the long-term strategic investment plan remains delayed, generating uncertainty in the defense industry.
