The United Arab Emirates have decided to finalize a new pipeline that will bypass the Strait of Hormuz, in order to protect its oil exports against supply disruption risks. This decision comes in the context of the current blockade of the strait, which has led to rising energy prices and affects the economies in the Gulf. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the acceleration of construction, so that the pipeline will be operational by 2027, with the capacity to transport up to 3.6 million barrels per day, doubling the current capacity. This pipeline is essential for the continuation of exports, especially after Iran blocked the passage of oil tankers through Hormuz. Additionally, the withdrawal of the United Arab Emirates from OPEC highlights tensions with Saudi Arabia and allows for greater oil extraction. The new pipeline will facilitate the increase of exports, regardless of the developments in the regional conflict.
