The UN will reduce the number of peacekeeping forces by 25%, that is between 13,000 and 14,000 soldiers and police officers, due to lack of funding.

Following the personnel reductions by the United States, the UN will repatriate approximately 25% of the military and police personnel dedicated to peacekeeping missions. This decision also involves a significant reduction in the equipment used, as well as affecting a considerable number of civilian employees within these missions. The announcement was made by a UN official on the condition of anonymity.
