According to a report by the Democrats on the Joint Economic Committee of Congress, the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration have cost the average American household nearly $1,200 since their implementation. From February to November, American consumers paid approximately $159 billion in tariffs, which translates to $1,198 per household.

Senator Maggie Hassan emphasized that these tariffs have led to increased prices for families, instead of helping to reduce costs. During his second term, Trump imposed double-digit tariffs on most countries, and the average tariff in the U.S. rose from 2.4% to 16.8%, the highest level since 1935, according to the Yale University Budget Lab.
