Workers on strike at Boeing Defense, in the St. Louis area, rejected the latest labor contract proposal from management on Sunday, continuing a protest that has lasted nearly three months. Approximately 3,200 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 837 voted against the offer, which was similar to previous ones that had already been rejected.
Boeing management stated that it would not significantly improve the offer, and in September, IAM members approved an alternative four-year contract that was rejected by the company. According to IAM, the union offer would add approximately 50 million dollars to the total value of the agreement, in contrast to the Boeing CEO's salary, estimated at 22 million dollars for this year. The strike is affecting the delivery of fighter jets and military equipment.
