The international cargo ship "Golden Leo", flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, sank on Sunday near the Ukrainian port of Odesa, a week after Ukrainian officials stated that it had been attacked by Russian forces.
The Ukrainian port authority confirmed that the ship, which was carrying corn and had departed from the port of Ciornomorsk, suffered severe damage as a result of the bombing on July 19, resulting in the death of nine crew members, while eight were evacuated safely. The incident occurred in a maritime corridor monitored by Ukraine, and authorities emphasized that Russia's actions violated international maritime law, endangering the lives of the crew. Moscow has not publicly commented on the attack.
