Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives voted Wednesday to repeal the tariffs imposed on Canada, despite threats from President Donald Trump.
This decision must be approved by the Senate, however, even if it were to be adopted, it is expected to be subject to a veto from Trump, who considers the tariffs fundamental to his economic policy. During the vote, Trump warned that lawmakers who vote against these tariffs will face consequences in future elections, including in the primaries.
