The Minister of Defense of Bosnia, Zukan Helez, refused to authorize the landing of the military plane transporting Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto to the Republic of Srpska. Helez justified the decision by citing the support Hungary has provided to the former Serb-Bosniak leader, Milorad Dodik, actions that have undermined the sovereignty of the country. In a Facebook post, Helez mentioned that Hungary did not provide clear explanations for Szijjarto's visit. Dodik, who was dismissed in August for ignoring international decisions, recently had a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during his first foreign visit after the elections in the Republic of Srpska. The conflict in Bosnia, which resulted in over 100,000 deaths, left the country divided into two semi-autonomous entities, and Dodik has denounced the ban on holding political office as unconstitutional.
