The Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt was reopened in a limited manner on Monday, February 2, after a prolonged period of closure.

During the first day, a total of 12 people, including five injured and seven companions, managed to enter Egypt from Gaza. According to Egyptian border authorities, the maximum number of patients allowed to enter Egypt was set at 50, each entitled to two companions. This opening of the crossing comes in the context of a difficult humanitarian situation in Gaza, where access to medical treatments is extremely limited.
