The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, announced that if Ukraine does not resume oil deliveries to Slovakia on Monday, he will ask Slovak companies to stop emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine. This statement comes after Slovakia suspended diesel deliveries to Ukraine due to disruptions in the supply of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
This pipeline was shut down on January 27, causing an energy shortage in Slovakia and Hungary, both countries being dependent on energy from Russia. In this context, Slovakia declared a state of emergency in the oil sector and began to use reserves. Both Slovakia and Hungary also accuse Ukraine of delays in repairing the damaged pipeline. Ukraine proposed using the Odesa-Brody pipeline to ensure the transit of oil to the two countries, instead of the Druzhba pipeline, which has been affected by Russian attacks.
