The new global tariffs of 10% imposed by American President Donald Trump came into effect on Tuesday, after the Supreme Court blocked on Friday a significant part of the more drastic taxes proposed by his administration.

Although Trump threatened to raise the tariff to 15%, no official directive has been issued in this regard. The temporary tariff, applied under section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, aims to rebalance trade relations and reduce the U.S. trade deficit, which has reached a new high of approximately 1.2 trillion dollars. Despite this deficit, the administration has already collected 130 billion dollars from tariffs.

Donald Trump criticized the Supreme Court's decision, and international reactions suggest a possible escalation of trade tensions, with the United Kingdom and the European Union evaluating reciprocal measures.
