The Kremlin confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a Christmas greeting message to his American counterpart, Donald Trump. The Kremlin's spokesperson, Dmitri Peskov, stated that there will be no phone conversation between the two, contrary to previous expectations. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Putin and Trump have had several phone discussions, the last one taking place in October, when Putin warned Trump about missile deliveries to Ukraine.
Additionally, Russia has reviewed the peace plan proposed by the United States but refused to comment on its details, considering that the media is not an appropriate channel for such discussions. Peskov mentioned that Russia made a proposal to France regarding researcher Laurent Vinatier, detained in Russia on charges of espionage. This situation reflects the current tensions between Russia and the West, in the context of deteriorating international relations.
