The Israeli Parliament, known as the Knesset, dissolved on Friday morning, marking a significant moment in the country's politics, with elections scheduled for October 27. This dissolution came in the context in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a decline in support from voters and an increasing opposition led by Naftali Bennett and a former military chief.

In recent days, the Knesset has passed several controversial laws, including measures that stop the enlistment of ultra-Orthodox men into the army and changes to the judicial system, which have been part of Netanyahu's agenda. The President of the Knesset, Amir Ohana, highlighted the government's achievements during his four-year term, a rare thing in Israel's history, where early elections are frequent. The last time a government completed a full term was in 1988.
