The European IRIS2 satellite project, aimed at developing its own constellation of satellites, must meet customer expectations regarding price and performance, said Eutelsat's CEO, Jean-François Fallacher. Reactions from the market, including from telecom operators such as Orange and Deutsche Telekom, underline the necessity of essential commercial attractiveness.

Customers expect competitive services and prices, and IRIS2 must offer performance comparable to that of the Starlink network and the planned Amazon LEO constellation. The project's budget is estimated at 10.6 billion euros, and operational entry is expected around the year 2029. Eutelsat intends to launch next-generation satellites of the OneWeb network together with IRIS2, in order to remain competitive against the rapid expansion of American rivals.
