The price of oil has risen significantly, and stocks have dropped drastically following President Donald Trump's speech, in which he announced an intensification of attacks on Iran in the coming weeks. Asian markets reacted immediately, recording a decline of over 1.4%, while futures contracts on U.S. stock indices fell by 1%.
Government bond yields have risen, and the price of Brent oil has exceeded 105 dollars per barrel. Analyzing the speech, experts noted that the markets did not receive the desired signals regarding a possible resolution of the conflict, but rather an escalation of tensions. At the same time, the Iranian president published a letter emphasizing that his country has nothing against the U.S., but warns that escalating the conflict will have serious consequences. Investors fear that even in the event of the war ending, oil flows will not return to normal quickly due to the damage suffered by energy infrastructure. Trump stated that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, crucial for oil transport, will happen naturally, but criticized allies for their lack of action.
