On Sunday, the storm caused disastrous flooding in the coastal communities of western Alaska, with entire houses being pushed off their foundations. Rescue helicopters were sent to the small villages of Kipnuk and Kwigillingok, where up to 20 people were reported possibly missing. Another 18 people were rescued in Kwigillingok, and at least 16 in Kipnuk. The flooding caused significant damage, with more than 600 people taking shelter in local schools.
