The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will officially open on November 1, 2023, next to the pyramids of Giza, after several delays. The billion-dollar museum will house more than 100,000 artifacts, more than half of which will be on public display. The main attraction will be King Tutankhamun's collection of more than 5,000 artifacts. Expected to attract five million visitors annually, the GEM will make a significant contribution to Egyptian tourism. The opening was approved by President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi after delays caused by regional conflicts and the Covid-19 pandemic.
