The European Commission has approved state aid for Poland, thus allowing the construction of the country's first nuclear power plant, announced Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Poland, in an effort to reduce its dependence on coal, has chosen Westinghouse Electric to carry out the project on the coast of the Baltic Sea. The construction of the first unit is planned to start in 2028 and to be completed in 2036. Tusk mentioned that the total amount needed for the project is 60 billion zlotys (approximately 16.51 billion dollars), and the first funds will be available in December. The European Commission's agreement is considered essential for the launch of the nuclear program, and Tusk emphasized its importance for ensuring a quick source of electricity from the nuclear power plant.
