The European Commission proposes a legislative act to gradually eliminate imports of Russian gas by 2028, amid the conflict in Ukraine. Member states are analyzing requirements that would oblige importers to demonstrate the origin of the gas, considering the difficulty of identifying the source in the case of mixing. Discussions will continue at a meeting of EU ambassadors, with the aim of reaching a common position by mid-October.
