On Saturday evening, the European Union strongly condemned the drone attacks carried out by Iran against Bahrain, expressing its solidarity with this state. The spokesperson for the European External Action Service stated that these attacks are unacceptable and constitute violations of international law, urging Iran to immediately cease its aggressions against its neighbors and to respect the recently signed memorandums of understanding.
The government of Bahrain reported multiple drone attacks, while Iran claimed that the targets were American bases. Iran also accused the United States of violating the agreement in the context of recent bombings of Iranian facilities. These attacks are the first since the signing of the agreement on June 17, aimed at ending hostilities and ensuring free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, while a final agreement on the Iranian nuclear program is being negotiated.
