The European Union approved on Monday the European Defense Industry Program (EDIP), following the vote of the EU Council, which allocates 300 million euros for Ukraine's defense sector. This program aims to integrate the Ukrainian industry into the European industrial network and to strengthen the Union's defense capacity. EDIP will allocate a total of 1.5 billion euros in grants between 2025 and 2027 to bolster the European industrial base, of which 300 million euros are designated for a dedicated Support Instrument for Ukraine. European leaders emphasize the need for closer coordination among states to effectively respond to security threats. The program, considered essential for the EU's commitment in the defense field, will be signed on December 17 and will come into force immediately after publication, thus facilitating rapid access to funds.
