The Ethics Committee has decided to continue an investigation into the Republican office in Georgia, Mike Collins, after a report claimed that his chief of staff, Brandon Phillips, paid an intern, Caroline Craze, for work she allegedly did not perform. The report indicated that Phillips paid her over $10,000 during the 2023-2024 period, but witnesses stated that Craze did not work in the Washington, D.C. office and that Phillips may have had a personal relationship with her. The committee concluded that there are reasonable grounds to believe that congressional resources were used for unofficial purposes and that special privileges were granted. Collins dismissed the allegations, calling them unfounded and stated that he would cooperate with the committee to clarify the situation. Collins, who is preparing to run for a seat in the U.S. Senate, is known for his support of Trump and for his controversial legislative initiatives.
