The crown of Empress Eugénie, affected during the robbery at the Louvre on October 19, 2025, will be able to be restored identically, without resorting to reconstruction, according to the museum's announcement. Although it was crushed and deformed, the jewel has been preserved almost entirely. The President of the Louvre Museum, Laurence des Cars, emphasized that the restoration is delicate but feasible. The crown was damaged during the theft, but all its elements are still present, except for a golden eagle and ten small diamonds. A specialist will be appointed for the restoration, and a committee of experts will oversee the work. The crown, commissioned by Napoleon III for the 1855 Universal Exposition, is one of the few crowns preserved in France. Eight jewels stolen during the robbery are still missing, and the total value of the theft is estimated at 88 million euros.
