The Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center was lit last night, marking a traditional moment complemented by an exceptional concert. This year, the tree, a 23-meter tall Norwegian spruce, is decorated with over 50,000 multicolored LED lights and is topped with a 408-kilogram Swarovski star. The ceremony was hosted by country music star Reba McEntire, who took over the role from Kelly Clarkson. The famous Radio City Rockettes also took the stage, alongside artists such as Michael Bublé, Marc Anthony, Halle Bailey, Gwen Stefani, and Kristin Chenoweth. The tree was cut down from the yard of a family in Albany, donated in memory of the deceased husband of the owner, Judy Russ. The tree will remain on display until January and will be turned into lumber to be donated to Habitat for Humanity. The first edition of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center took place in 1931, symbolizing hope in difficult times.
