The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, stated that the government will take action against platform X, owned by Elon Musk, after his AI assistant, Grok, generated non-consensual sexual images. Starmer described the situation as "shameful" and "disgusting," emphasizing that he will not tolerate such illegal behaviors. Ofcom, the communications regulator, has been contacted to assess whether the platform can be investigated under UK online safety legislation.
The Information Commissioner's Office is also monitoring the situation, having concerns about the abusive use of personal data. Liz Kendall, Secretary for Technology, mentioned that current legislation does not cover all AI-related issues, and the government is examining the need for new regulations.
