An Iranian military ship was sunk by a torpedo launched by an American submarine near the coast of Sri Lanka, according to a statement from the Sri Lankan navy. The incident occurred on March 4, and local authorities managed to recover 87 bodies and rescue 32 people. The Iranian ship, considered the "prestige vessel" of the Islamic Republic, sank in the Indian Ocean. U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed the attack, emphasizing the importance of military actions in defending national interests. The incident has generated additional tensions in the region, given the already fragile relations between the United States and Iran.
