The verdict determines that Tesla bears some responsibility for the fatal crash in 2019 in which a Tesla Model S accelerated and struck a parked car, causing the death of a young girl and seriously injuring her boyfriend. The damages include $129 million in compensatory damages and $200 million in punitive damages. The family's lawyer criticized Tesla for using the Autopilot system improperly, while the company did not immediately comment. Tesla shares fell 1.5% after the verdict.
