Teresa Ribera said that the starvation and attacks on the population in Gaza reflect features of genocide, highlighting serious human rights violations. She emphasized that people are directly targeted by the bombardments, even when they seek humanitarian aid. Although the European Commission has not officially used the term "genocide", its position is in line with concerns expressed by other EU member states about the situation in Gaza. Israel has rejected the accusations, claiming its actions are part of a war of self-defence.
