An Iranian official announced that early Monday morning, six ships attempting to traverse an unsafe route through the Strait of Hormuz were intercepted and returned in the Persian Gulf.

According to him, one of the ships suffered an accident.

According to Iranian authorities, the ships turned off their navigation systems to attempt a route deemed "illegal and unsafe" in the southern Strait of Hormuz.

The incident occurred after the explosion of an oil tanker that hit a naval mine, deviating from the navigation route approved by Iran.

The Tasnim news agency, associated with the Revolutionary Guard, stated that the ship violated established rules. Iran has warned that ships that do not adhere to established routes will face consequences. Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have increased, with Iranian attacks on commercial vessels and military responses from the United States. In recent weeks, conflicts have escalated, culminating in a new blockade of the waterway by Iran.
