The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Andrii Sybiha, responded to the statements of Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who declared that Hungary will not vote for Ukraine's accession to the European Union in the next 100 years. Sybiha contested these statements, claiming that Orban's plan is doomed to failure and that Ukraine will join the EU, promising to keep the memory of these lies.
In response, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto accused Ukraine of interfering in the electoral campaign in Hungary, emphasizing that the Hungarian government will protect the country from involvement in the war and will not allow Brussels or Kyiv to influence internal decisions. Szijjarto urged Ukrainians to stop interfering in the elections in Hungary, stating that the Hungarian people will decide the future of the country, not Ukraine.
