Ten countries in Europe - namely the United Kingdom, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Norway, have agreed to build offshore wind farms that will be interconnected by high-voltage submarine cables, aiming to provide 100 gigawatts (GW) of wind energy.

The British Energy Minister, Ed Miliband, emphasized the importance of this commitment to reducing dependence on fossil fuels and ensuring the energy sovereignty of Great Britain. The agreement will be presented in the "Hamburg Declaration" and comes after criticisms from Donald Trump regarding the UK's energy transition plans. This pact reaffirms Europe's commitment to wind energy, contributing to the goal of producing 300 GW of offshore wind energy in the North Sea by 2050.
