The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its ally, the Innovation Party (Ishin), are on track to secure a two-thirds majority in the lower house of the Japanese legislature, after Takaichi became the first female leader of Japan.

Projections suggest that the LDP could win over 300 of the 465 seats, thus regaining the absolute majority lost in 2024. In contrast, the opposition, represented by the New Reform Alliance, could face significant losses.
