The statement of Taiwanese official Lin Chia-lung was a reaction to the comments made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Munich Security Conference. China considers Taiwan part of its territory, a position contested by Taipei, which asserts that the island's sovereignty has never belonged to the People's Republic of China. Wang Yi accused certain states, including Japan, of escalating regional tensions and emphasized the importance of respecting the UN Charter. Lin Chia-lung responded that Beijing violates UN principles through threats and military actions, mentioning the daily conduct of Chinese military operations around Taiwan. Additionally, Taiwanese officials were not invited to the conference due to diplomatic pressures from China. Taiwan maintains that the island was handed over to the Republic of China, not the People's Republic of China, after World War II.
