The Swedish government has presented a bill that requires immigrants to lead an "honest life," under the threat of expulsion if they do not comply with the country's laws. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, in power since 2022, has promoted this reform as part of his campaign to tighten immigration policy.

The Minister for Migration, Johan Forssell, emphasized that failure to meet obligations, abuse of the benefits system, or fraudulent acquisition of a residence permit will lead to its withdrawal. It is also proposed to revoke permits in cases where migrants are considered a threat or have made false statements. If parliament approves the legislation, it will come into effect on July 13.
