The suspect, a 39-year-old man, has a criminal record, being known for qualified thefts committed in 2008 and 2014. He is under judicial control in another theft case that is set to be tried in November at the court in Bobigny. His lawyers, Maxime Cavaillé, Diala Al Shaman, Florian Godest Le Gall, and Maxence Gallo, claim that their desire is to clarify the facts and correct the public's perception of their client, who has been recognized as innocent in other cases. However, his DNA was found on the broken showcases at the Louvre, and the stolen jewelry, valued at 88 million euros, remains missing. The prosecutor announced five new arrests in this case, including another suspect in the robbery.
