American Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States and China have reached a certain degree of stability in their tense relationship, with the aim of avoiding a global trade war, which would be detrimental to both countries and to the entire world. This statement was made ahead of Donald Trump's visit to Beijing, scheduled for the end of March.

Rubio emphasized that the U.S. will continue to be cautious towards China and will seek to diversify its economy to reduce dependence on it. He also mentioned the commitment to pressure China to negotiate a trilateral nuclear agreement with the United States and Russia, in the context of the expiration of the new START treaty for nuclear arms control. Despite China's public refusal to participate in multilateral negotiations, Rubio stated that the U.S. will continue to insist on this aspect, believing that such an agreement would be beneficial for everyone.
