The Prime Minister of Slovenia, Robert Golob, accused 'foreign services' of interfering in the parliamentary elections, after it was revealed that representatives of the Israeli spying firm Black Cube met with Janez Janša, the opposition leader. These meetings were confirmed by the Slovenian Intelligence and Security Agency, which acknowledged the arrival of Black Cube representatives but did not confirm the meeting with Janša. Golob denounced Black Cube's involvement as an 'attack on democracy' and promised an investigation.

The accusations come in the context of secret recordings suggesting influence peddling and corruption. Black Cube, known for its controversial methods, has previously been involved in international scandals, including in Romania. If Janša wins the elections, he could change Slovenia's policies in the Middle East, in contrast to the current government's position, which supports Palestine. Golob emphasized that foreign interference in the elections of an EU member state is unprecedented.
