The South Korean government has announced an additional investment of 4.9 billion dollars in the semiconductor sector, in view of the challenges posed by possible US tariffs. The plan aims to help local companies such as Samsung and SK Hynix in the face of intensifying global competition. Total investment in the sector will rise from $18.2bn to $23.1bn, including infrastructure development. The measure is part of a revised budget to be voted on in parliament.
