Following devastating floods caused by heavy rains, South Africa has declared a national state of disaster. Since the beginning of December, the floods have severely affected the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, where 30 people have died, and in Mozambique, at least 9 people have lost their lives. The director of the South African Disaster Management Center, Elias Sithole, officially announced the disaster decree. Authorities continue the search for survivors and the recovery of victims, while the floods begin to recede in some areas, including in the famous Kruger Park. In Mozambique, rivers have overflowed, flooding entire neighborhoods and forcing thousands of people to evacuate. South Africa has sent rescue teams to southern Mozambique after a vehicle with a South African delegation was swept away by the waters.
