On November 27, the Louvre Museum was affected by a severe flood, which damaged approximately 400 works and documents from the Egyptian antiquities library. According to the magazine La Tribune de l'art, the flood was caused by a pipe failure, and the force of the water was so great that it reached the lower floor, risking a fire due to water infiltration into the electrical cabinets.

Another leak had previously occurred in the same area, and the Department of Egyptian Antiquities requested funds to protect the works from potential damage caused by leaks, but the request was not honored. The precarious state of the infrastructure led to severe damage to the works, some of which became irretrievable.
